Is social media comms really that easy?

Social media seems to be The solution for everything at the moment; for easy and cost-effective advertising, promotion PR and marketing as such. The problem is that in theory it is easy, but as usual the reality is a bit different. Surely it can’t take more than 5 minutes to post a new blog entry or tweet for a client. Surely everybody online is interested in new product updates and building a community is a done job. Well actually it isn’t. Social media activity takes time and patience as you have to develop a constant interaction with customers and the community and offer them something exciting and engaging every time to keep them interested and happy. You have to be creative and focused to bring your messages across without boring everyone to death

So does that mean that social media activity is not worth the effort? No it is if you carefully evaluate the target market and if you are aware of the time involved. Building up a community isn’t something you can do within a week or a month, unless you pay for it. But if you take your time and plan your social media activity carefully it is worth the effort.
